Mombasa governor Hassan Joho has admitted his 'fights' with the head of state are not an easy thing to do
 - Joho explained that he had to do it "for the people" 
- The governor has on several occasion's been involved in direct altercations with the government Mombasa governor Hassan Joho has admitted that the constant tussles with the President throughout his tenure has not been an easy thing to do. 

The governor admitted that it takes a certain level of bravery and courage to take on the President head-on regarding his shortcomings and flaws. Joho was speaking in the 5000 teachers in Jubilee Hall where he justified his constant headline-making outbursts against the president.
According to Joho, everything he has done or said about Uhuru Kenyatta was “for the sake of the people”. “It got to a point where I had to make a decision for the people of Mombasa. I want to tell you here that it is not easy to stand before a President and tell him the bitter truth.” He spoke on Thursday. Joho also spoke of the fact that he was the only governor to go about his business without the security detail.

The coastal governor has been arguably one of the fiercest critics of the Jubilee regime, literally brushing chests with the government on several occasions. In January, Joho was reportedly arrested for storming a police cell by Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnett.

He was finally freed after a 7-hour detention. In March, Joho was barred from attending President Uhuru Kenyatta's function where he was to launch Mtongwe ferry. Earlier in July, Joho, while Speaking during NASA’s tour in Mandera county on Tuesday, July 11, of how he was angered by the Jubilee regime in 2013 upon the issuing of a directive to hold a crackdown on Somalis who had no form of Kenyan identification.
