- Uhuru was accompanied in his tour by Nairobi Governor elect Mike Sonko and other elected leaders in the county President elect Uhuru Kenyatta, on Thursday, August 17 took his first tour in the streets of Nairobi since he was announced the winner of the presidential polls.
Uhuru toured the busy Kenyatta market alongside Nairobi governor elect Mike Sonko where they interacted with residents while monitoring the cleanup process. It was Uhuru’s first public appearance on ground level since he was declared president in an election which opposition NASA is strongly disputing.
Governor elects Mike Sonko, has been swift in stamping his gubernatorial mark on the city, with clean up initiatives being the order of the day since his election. Sonko, who has been interacting with traders in Kenyatta market, promised to hand them a more conducive environment for conducting businesses.
According to Sonko who has barely been governor for a week, the mountains of trash that were the trademark of the busy market has all been cleared out.
Sonko also came up with a list of objectives his administration hopes to achieve including the laying cabro blocks paving the streets installing litter bins (every 30 meters) planting of trees installing street lights and garbage collection.
