WE CANNOT MEET THE OCTOBER 17 DEADLINE THE FRENCH SUPPLIER OF KIEMS SAID.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)  faces hurdles that may delay Presidential Election
 - The Integrated Elections Management System (KIEMS)  have to be upgraded before  election which may take  while and casts uncertainty into  election date
 - The technology (KIEMS)  the one that  IEBC used to identify voters from  Kenya
 - French firm, Safran Morpho which supplied  KIEMS kits sent out  letter to the IEBC saying that they would not be able to meet  deadline on October 17
- The company (Safran) says that the IEBC has to give it right this time because the negative publicity will affect  company's image across  globe There are fears that  Presidential Election slated Tuesday, October 17 will be pushed forward.

This came after it emerged that  IEBC may not be adequately prepared for election on  said date. For starters, the Integrated Elections Management System (KIEMS) can not be ready by the 17th of October. French firm that supplied the kit- Safran Morpho in a letter to the IEBC said  they will not be able to meet  deadline on October 17
The systems needs to be upgraded without affecting  data from  August 8 election which is crucial for election petitions which are in the court. The law requires that electoral data stored for a period of six months to three years and be produced upon the  request by court of law. “They told us that they don’t want to rush their work and risk total failure of  system as this will affect their reputation,” a source from the IEBC told Standard.  - NASA Safran's CEO Anne Bouverot who has jetted into Kenya for  meeting with  IEBC insisted that  IEBC will have to get it right t time because negative publicity on the KIEMS kit will affect the company's image across the globe. The IEBC needs to reconfigure 41,000 kits for all  polling station across the Kenya  readiness for election. Then there is  stalemate of  IEBC, NASA and Jubilee supposed meet meant to iron out issues ahead of  election.

The NASA alliance via Siaya Senator James Orengo wants  IEBC to get  different company for technology saying that Safran is criminal enterprise. “Countries like India have almost 800 million voters and  they use technology to conduct smooth elections within  shortest time, why can’t IEBC do the same just less than 20 million voters?” Orengo asked.
